"Layout as ePub" option is grayed out

Applies to - QuarkXPress 2015

Background:

In QuarkXPress 9.x, single page print layout can be exported to epub document. User simply go to Item > Digital Publishing  > Add Pages To Reflow View....; then navigate to File > Export > Layout as ePub.In QuarkXPress 2015, there is change in behavior. User needs to have atleast two pages in the print layout to be able to export the same as ePub file. The first page is considered as cover and is exported as screenshot of page (so text in first page cannot be selected/copied)

Solution:

  • Create a QuarkXPress document
  • Add two pages .
  • Navigate to File > Export . The option for "Layout as ePub" will be active.
