How to Create a Virtual Printer on Mavericks (10.9):

  1. Go to System Preferences
  2. Printers & Scanners
  3. Choose IP from the menu
  4. Click on the + icon
  5. Choose Internet Printing Protocol - IPP from the Protocol pop-up menu
  6. In the Address field, enter 127.0.0.1
  7. In the Name field, enter 127.0.0.1
  8. Choose Generic PostScript Printer from the Print Using drop-down menu
  9. Click Add
  10. Quit the Print & Fax and System Preferences window
