How to import external resources in a Project Job Jacket in QuarkXPress 10

How to import external resources in a Project Job Jacket in QuarkXPress 10

Summary

In QuarkXPress 9, there is an option Collaboration Setup. The Collaboration Setup dialog box (File menu) includes project-wide collaboration settings. These settings are used for:

• Establishing links to composition layouts in external projects.

• Viewing information about shared composition layouts in the active project.

• Sharing Job Jackets.

• Importing text or pictures into the shared content library.

• Removing text or pictures imported via the Collaboration Setup dialog box.

• Specifying how often the active project is updated with any changes to linked content or Job Jackets settings.

To import an external resource (Composition Zones, Image file, Text file) in a Project layout:

A. Share the Layout of project having Composition Zone

1. Open the project where Composition Zone created. Navigate to Layout menu > Advanced Layout Properties
2. Check the option "Share Layout" and select "All Projects" under Availability dropdown
3. Click Ok to save the changes.

B. Create External Resources in Job Jacket

1. Create new project to import the external resources.
2. Navigate to Job Jackets Manager
3. Select project job jacket and choose External Resources from Right

 

4. Click on New Item and this would add the new External Resource
5. Select the type of External Resource you want to create.

 

 

6. Click on Browse and select the project in which composition zone was created
7. Select the project job ticket on left side and click on External Resource on right hand side

(Note: In the same manner, if type of External Resource is selected as Picture or Text, then user can link the project layout to external image or text file.)

8. The external resource which has been created above is in Job Jacket. Now select "In Ticket" (refer screenshot below)

 

9. Click on Save and Close.

10. Navigate to Windows > Content
11. Here it would display the layout of project which was shared above.
12. Drag the layout from Content palette in the project on which you are currently working.


(Note: If you share the composition zone layouts of project created in Step A, then at step 11, it would also display composition zone layouts.
Composition Zone item can be shared by selecting the Item > Share or display the Content palette (Window menu) and click Add Item.)


12. Drag the layout from Content palette in the project on which you are currently working.

(Note: Create picture box or text box in layout before dragging the picture external resource or text external resource respectively from Content palette)
