Error: ‘Cannot write to disk [-61]’ appears while saving an existing document in QuarkXPress.

Summary: This error generally occurs if there is a problem with the permissions.

Solution:

I. If the document is saved on a network drive.

  • Move the document to the desktop.
  • Open the document in QuarkXPress and make changes to it.
  • Save it back to desktop.

II. Thumbnail drag.

Perform thumbnail drag of the document to save current changes.

III. Create a folder on the desktop and save the document in the folder. Also, give full read & write permissions to this folder.

IV. Make sure there are no special characters in the file name.
