QuarkXPress 9 project when saved to a server volume causes extra folders to be created.

Background:
The problem occurs:

  • When connected through AFP protocol to a network volume.
  • If File Vault is turned on.
  • If the file is saved with the apostrophe (') character inside a folder named with this character, the Save button becomes disabled after changes two or three times.

Solution:

  • Connect to the network volume via the SMB protocol
  • The problem only occurs with the (') character. Therefore, do not use this character when naming your projects.
