How to Configure QuarkXPress Server 8 to Initialize Automatically with Multiple Subrenderers Enabled

Useful for:

  • Setting up QuarkXPress Server 8 to run as a service with multiple subrenderers automatically enabled
  • Automatically restarting QuarkXPress Server to run with multiple subrenderers

Procedure:
To initialize QuarkXPress Server 8.x as a service with multiple subrenderers, you need to update the “QuarkXPressServer.config” file located in the QuarkXPress Server folder in the following manner:

Open the file in a text editor and make the following changes to launch it in Master-Subrenderer mode:

COMMANDLINE=-subrenders n

OR

COMMANDLINE=-subrenders n -noui

Note: Replace 'n' with the number of subrenderers you want to initialize. Adding 'noui' will ensure that QuarkXPress Server will run with no User Interface.
