New XPress Preferences Files Need to Be Created Each Time QuarkXPress 8 Launches

New XPress Preferences Files Need to Be Created Each Time QuarkXPress 8 Launches

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Delete the Preferences folder located in the QuarkXPress 8 application folder.
  2. Create a new Preferences folder.
  3. Launch QuarkXPress 8.0,
  4. Open the newly created Preferences folder in the QuarkXPress 8 folder..
  5. Delete the file XPress Preferences.prf
  6. Quit QuarkXPress.
  7. Shutdown the computer.
  8. Restart the computer
  9. Launch QuarkXPress 8.0.

Under some circumstances the permissions on this computer are not allowing full read/write access to the XPress Preferences. In this particular case, the proper permissions were set using the procedure below.
