How to Set the Correct Character Language for a Layout

Spell-checking is keyed to the Character Language applied to text. If you have applied the wrong Character Language in the Character Attributes dialog (Style > Character) or in a Character Style Sheet applied to the text (Edit > Style Sheets), the Spell-Checker will find all words to be incorrect.

You can select the correct Character Language in the Character Style Sheets dialog (Edit> Style Sheets) or apply the correct Character Language manually. To set it for your Character Style Sheet:

  1. Go to Edit > Style Sheets.
  2. Select the Character Style Sheet to which you want to apply the correct Character Language.
  3. Click on Edit (or you can create a new Character Style Sheet).
  4. Select the correct language in the Language drop-down menu.
  5. Click OK, then click Save.

Note: Remember to change the Normal Character Style Sheet in addition to any additional ones you have created.

To manually apply the correct Character Language:

  1. Select the text to which you want to apply the desired Character Language.
  2. Select the Character Attributes tab of the Measurements palette.
  3. Select the correct language in the Language drop-down menu.

Note: You can also manually apply the correct Language in the Character Attributes dialog (Style > Character).
