QuarkXPress 7 Fails to Launch After System Reinstall

To reset your Frameworks and XPress Preferences file, follow these steps:

  1. Delete the old XPress Preferences file.
  2. Find the folder named For System inside your QuarkXPress 7 folder.
  3. Run the QuarkXPress Components.app located inside this folder. This will reinstall all the frameworks needed by QuarkXPress 7 in order to launch.
  4. Launch QuarkXPress 7 to ensure the frameworks were installed correctly.

Note: You will need to have Administrator permissions to install the required Frameworks.

Background:
When you replace your operating system from scratch, the Frameworks that QuarkXPress verifies at launch are no longer installed. You need to reinstall the Frameworks that QuarkXPress places into the Frameworks folder during installation. If you need to reinstall just the Frameworks, you can do this by running the QuarkXPress Components.app, located in the For System folder of the QuarkXPress folder. You may also want to create a new set of Preference for QuarkXPress. The default installed location for the QuarkXPress Preferences is Hard Drive:Users:[your user account]:Library:Preferences:Quark:Quark 7.0:XPress Preferences.prf.
